Following yesterdays announcement that the September 3rd return of Irish boxing favourite Willie Casey at the Institute of Technology in Limerick had been cancelled, it has been confirmed today that the Prizefighter and former European champion will now feature on the undercard of the Tyson Fury bill on the 17th of September at the Kings Hall in Belfast.
Willie Casey’s manager/promoter Gary Hyde whose promotions company NoWhere2Hyde were behind the cancelled Limerick venture informed Greenjab.ie that his newest protégé has been added to the Kings Hall undercard where as planned he will fight Daniel Kodjo Sassou.
“Willie will now fight on the Tyson Fury bill in the Kings Hall on the 17th of September. While we are disappointed that the Limerick show won’t happen at this time, we are delighted that Willie we still fight as it is important that he get back in as soon as possible”.
In what will surely be a boost for both Willie Casey and Team NoWhere2Hyde following the Limerick disappointment, the switch to Belfast now means some beneficial airtime for Limericks “Cinderella man” as his clash with French based Daniel Kodjo Sassou will be screened live by Channel Five.
“Willie will still fight the same opponent he was to meet in Limerick and the fight will be shown live by channel five, this will be good because it will allow people to see how good Willie, it will also boos his profile as we go looking for the winner of the Kiko Martinez and Carl Frampton European title fight” said the Cork based promoter.
