Chisora who tipped the scales at 18st 9lb for his showdown with Fury – the heaviest of his career – looked sluggish and perfectly matching the description of a fighter inactive for over a year. It was the jab of the Irish pugilist that proved most effective, clearing the runway for the left hands.
Question of how Fury would handle some Chisora bombs where answered during the early rounds when the Finchley-based champion boxer had taken a less than professional approach to training for the fight rocked the Irishman in the second round and had him in trouble again in the third and fourth, but like a real champion in the making, Fury soaked up the shots, cleared his head and got back to the game plan.
Fury boxed well throughout the contest, throwing some very effective combinations backed up by a relentless work rate to ensure whether by hook or crook his hand would be raised come the end of the fight.
It was to last the full twelve punishing rounds as Fury was required to weather one final assault in the tenth round from Chisora who finished the fight owning a majority of the bloody and battered features and parting way with his British and Commonwealth titles by way of a unanimous points loss
Victory number 15 for the still unbeaten Fury who is a cousin of Irelands American based prospect Andy Lee might now open the door to a potential world title shot against either of the Klitschko brothers with Wladimir Klitschko the WBO, IBF and WBA champion having already discussed the prospect of facing the winner of last nights contest .
