Matthew “Mack the Knife” Macklin will host an open media workout in Manhattan at 12 noon next Wednesday (Feb. 29th) as the countdown continues ahead of his mega fight with Sergio “Maravilla” Martinez at Madison Square Garden in New York on St. Patrick’s Day.
The former Tipperary underage hurler and two time European Middleweight Champion will be joined in training camp next week by Tipperary hurling stars, Lar Corbett and Eoin Kelly who are flying to New York to lend their support to Macklin’s bid to defeat Martinez, widely considered to be the third best pound for pound fighter in the world after Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao.
Macklin will workout for the media with trainer Buddy McGirt while promoter Lou DiBella and Macklin’s manager, Brian Peters will join Corbett and Kelly as they look ahead to the St. Patrick’s Day event at MSG.
The March 17th bout is live on HBO’s World Championship Boxing in the U.S. and live on Sky Sports 1 in Ireland and the UK.
The workout begins at 12 noon (Wednesday, February 29th) at Trinity Boxing Club in the Financial District (110 Greenwich Street, New York, NY 10006)
